What is Coaching?

Coaching is a dynamic client-centered process that helps you transform your life by tapping into your inner purpose and passion to create an action-oriented plan for the future. Certified Dream Coaches® are trained in a time-tested model to help you move from defining your intention, clarifying your dream through to bringing it into active reality. We believe that all the answers lie within you and the role of the coach is to help you own and live your dreams, releasing those blocks, which are holding you back from being your best self.
How is Coaching Different Than Therapy?
Coaching moves you from your present state forward with action items and accountability for what it is you want to accomplish. Therapy focuses working through and healing emotional pain and trauma, (often originating in your past) which are blocking you from having the focus and energy to move forward. Coaching operates on the belief that you are not addressing healing something that feels broken. Like therapy, you are consciously choosing to improve all or many aspects of your life, but with a different focus and scope. We certainly work with your emotions but not on healing emotional trauma. Most coaching clients are healthy, often successful people who may be a little stuck, or simply want to make a big change in their lives and want the support of a coach to go forward.
Will You Give Me Advice and Tell Me What To Do?
Coaches don't offer advice, act as a consultant or mentor, tell you what to do, or push their own agenda. The coaching relationship involves the coach holding your agenda as well as holding you accountable for what it is that you want to do.
My coaching style is compassionate listening, working with structured exercises designed to help you move step by step, coupled with gentle but firm accountability. I want only the best for you and will challenge you to be and do your best!
How Will Our Work be Structured?
The Dream Coach® process utilizes a workbook which we will follow as you go through your 10-12 week process of identifying your intention, clarifying your dreams, your purpose, doubts, and action plans to bring your dream to life. Your own process will be personalized within this structure to address your needs, and guidance from other sources may be added as it seems appropriate to aiding your journey. You may also choose to continue using coaching beyond the basic process to bring other dreams to life or continue support for the original dream.
